The Closer Season Four - Episodes 5 and 6

Episode 5 – Dial ‘M’ for Provenza.

Hee – Just the mere mention of this episode brings a smile to my face. There are a number of episodes that I love but this one goes on the books as one of my absolute favorites.

Basically, this episode sees Provenza undercover as some sort of hit man who’s been hired by the world’s dumbest broad to kill her husband. Through a series of hilarious mishaps, lost evidence, botched stakeouts and alike the husband ends up dead anyway.

====
====

So this episode starts off with Provenza undercover as a hit man. The team are waiting for the right moment to pounce on the suspect… as soon as she pays Provenza for the job…. Problem is, she’s too busy hitting on him.
Flynn:I can’t decide what’s more nauseating; her trying to kill her husband or watching her come on to Provenza.

====
====

I love the way Provenza gloats after the bust.

Provenza:Thank you… thank you…. Hold your applause, I’m here all week.

I know that’s not the first time we’ve heard him say that but it never gets old.

====
====

Classic Line:
Angie Serabian:He didn’t tell me he was lying so you can’t arrest me

OMG.. the look on Brenda’s face was too perfect.

====
====

Only Flynn and Provenza would leave critical evidence in the trunk of a car and go for lunch with the suspect… OMG.

And … THE CLUB? Provenza, Really? REALLY?

====
====

Fritz laughing his ass off in the background of Brenda’s office as Flynn and Provenza try to explain what happened to the evidence was such a nice touch.

*Giggles*

====
====

Will’s reaction to the news of what happened was hilarious… I love JK.

*ahem*
… that was, of course, until he gave her 48 hours to either fix it or fire Provenza.

====
====

OMG.. when Provenza storms into Brenda’s office an grabs the picture of Willie Ray I thought I was going to bust a gut.
Will:What was that about?
Brenda:What was what about?
Will:He just walked out of here with a picture of your mother.
Brenda:He’s awfully fond of my mother.

====
====

Okay so the car thief guy, trying to high five Flynn when they find the evidence in the car… too frakking funny.

====
====

Reviewing the video was another great moment. I loved how after they realize that the evidence was been recorded over, the only snippet left of the evidence is Provenza’s famous… “Thank You… Thank you… hold the applause, I’m here all week.”

====
====

I love the way they extracted the safe. The reactions of Tao and Sanchez were just so… MALE. Only a guy would get a charge out of that.

====
====

This Angie chick is such a piece of work. Oh my GOD, after everything she’s still hoping and trying to hook up with Provenza… *shakes head*

====
====

The Scene with Will in his office at the end of the episode was darn near perfect.
Provenza:I just dropped by to tell you that I am neve going to retire… EVER
Will:Why?
Provenza:I have a civil service job, and the only way I am going to leave the Los Angeles police department is if I get shot, have a heart attack, and then you run me over. After which, I will consider a disability position.
Will:But you really still haven’t told me why.
Provenza:When my first wife and I divorced, I agreed to split my pension with her from the day I retire. I’ll be damned if she gets a nickel.
Will:That, I understand.
Provenza: You do?
Will:I made a distressingly similar arrangement with my first wife.

Episode 6

This episode deals with the disappearance of a kid. I turns out the kids has been adopted from Russia and has some serious issues and is, essentially, a psychopath and that his adoptive father killed him.

This episode didn’t do much for me at all. Usually when a show involves a kid my maternal instincts go into over-drive and I get very invested but for some reason the instincts never kicked in.

===
===

Loved the way this episode starts off… shower scene. Too bad it was a SHOWER SCENE… if you know what I mean.

====
====

I liked the kid who played the daughter in this episode. Don’t know why, just did.

====
====

I wasn’t too sure I agreed the reasoning behind Will’s decision to call off the ‘Critical Missing’ status of the case. I mean, I understood that they only have so many people on the force and that the presidential candidates were coming to town… blah blah blah, but really?

Apparently, Fritz felt the same way.

====
====

So the topic of kids came up again… in a round-about sorta way. I find it rather annoying that they never actually sat down and had an honest discussion on that. I know that not ALL couples do, and Brenda Leigh Johnson doesn’t know what an honest frank conversation even sounds like… but shouldn’t they? I mean, holy shit, my husband and I had that conversation the second night we spent together.

====
====

I love the way Brenda already knows who the guilty party is before she even begins the interrogation. She does this all the time, and I love it. She makes it out as though she’s got one person in her sights when really she’s just reeling in another in the process. She played the parents perfectly in this one.
